July 16, 2026

Lander concludes mid-July filing period with more available campaign funds than Senator Ashby

AVERILL PARK, N.Y. — Devin Lander, candidate for New York State Senate District 43, announced today that with matching funds, he has raised over $204,000 with a total cash-on-hand of $201,000.

Lander has received more than 500 contributions from over 315 individual donors, along with $180,374.50 in public matching dollars.

Devin Lander said: "I'm grateful for the incredible support we've received from hundreds of people across the district. Every contribution, whether it's five dollars or five hundred, is a vote of confidence in our campaign and our vision for a more affordable New York, stronger public schools, and honest, responsive leadership. We're building the grassroots campaign it will take to win in November."

The campaign expects to receive additional public matching funds later this year as the campaign continues to build momentum. The General Election will be held on November 3, 2026.

Devin Lander is running against Senator Jake Ashby to represent Northern Albany, Rensselaer, and Southern Washington Counties in the 43rd State Senate District.

Lander Condemns Politicization of Disaster Aid, Calls on Senator Ashby to Put Constituents Ahead of Partisan Politics

July 10, 2026

ALBANY, N.Y. — Today, Devin Lander, candidate for New York State Senate District 43, called for bipartisan unity following reports that federal disaster assistance is being withheld from New York and other “blue” states based on political leadership.

Lander urged incumbent Republican Senator Jake Ashby to join him in standing up for the Capital Region and calling on the White House to ensure emergency funds are distributed based on need, not party lines.

Devin Lander released the following statement:
"The reported decision to deny disaster assistance to states based on politics is unacceptable. Disaster relief should never depend on whether a state is led by Democrats or Republicans. Rather, it should depend on whether people need help. New Yorkers work hard, pay their taxes, and deserve to know that when disaster strikes, the federal government will be there to help, not play partisan politics.

As State Senator, I'll always stand up for the Capital Region and fight to ensure our communities receive the resources they need, regardless of who occupies the White House. Unfortunately, Senator Ashby has remained silent on this issue. When a crisis hits Rensselaer, Albany, or Washington counties, a natural disaster doesn't distinguish between Democrats and Republicans. Staying quiet while our communities face a potential loss of critical emergency funding is a missed opportunity for real leadership. The Capital Region deserves an independent voice who will put local families first, every single time."

Lander emphasized that federal emergency funds are paid for by the tax dollars of hard-working New Yorkers, and that securing those resources for local infrastructure and families must rise above partisan calculations. The Lander campaign is asking Senator Ashby to speak out on the matter and join the call to protect New York's access to vital federal relief.
